Rehabilitated Psychological Service Center - "Green House" opened in Tbilisi
In connection to the World Autism Awareness Day, the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, George Amashukeli, together with the executive director of the Municipal Development Fund, Ilya Darchiashvili, opened the psychological services center – “Green House”. "Green House" is the rehabilitation center for children with autism. It helps them to integrate into the society. Municipal Development Fund has carried out the repair works by financing of the government with the cost of 65 143 GEL.
Rehabilitation Center, together with the children with autism syndrome, helps the children with problems of psychological adaptation, with hampering of the development and with emotional disorders. "Green House" was created according to the French model and it is supported by the French Embassy in Georgia since its inception. Center, helps about 300 children and their parents each year in prevention and treatment of psychological deviations. Since its inception "The Green House" has consulted more than 1000 children. However, because of the damaged building, the center temporarily suspended its activities in February last year.
Based to the appeals of the director of the center, the City Hall and the Government Decree, the Municipal Development Fund at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, carried out a full reconstruction of the “Green House".
Within the frameworks of the project the damaged building was renewed. Central heating system was installed. The reconstruction works carried out in accordance with international standards, that the children with disabilities would have the opportunity to get the equivalent treatment.
April 2 was announced as World Autism Awareness Day on 18 December 2007, by the UN General Assembly. The date was originally designed to increase public awareness about autism, in order to protect the fundamental rights of people with autism. Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Municipal Development Fund join the aims of this date and will try to contribute in solution of this problem.
