Construction of the 320 Place Modern Hostel has been Initiated
First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Giorgi Amashukeli together with the Mayor of Tbilisi City, Davit Narmania, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili and Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, Zurab Tkemaladze has inaugurated the project for construction of the 320-place student hostel on the Lake Lisi slope in Tbilisi.
The 320-place hostel will be constructed in line with international standards. Project implementation will foster enhancement of educational and living conditions for socially vulnerable students residing in various municipalities and occupied territories countrywide. On instructions of the Government of Georgia civil works will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Minstry of Regional Developemnt and Infrastructure of Georgia. Works will be funded from the state budget and their total cost amounts to GEL 5.250.777.
The project envisages construction of 3 residential and one administrative buildings. Coffee bar, conference hall, first-aid post, library, computer space, laundry and such other ancillary infrastructure will be arranged in order to create a maximally convenient environment for the students. Outside the building internal roads and footpaths, open sports ground, gym apparatus and outdoor lighting will be installed. The area will get improved and landscaped.
There will be hotel type apartments in the residential buildings. Some of the apartments as well as the residential building infrastructure will be adapted for disabled. After completion of construction works, the completed compound will be transferred to the ownership of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Georgia. 320 students will be able to reside in the hostel and get educated at the same time. The works are being implemented by the “Saba Construction” LTD. Construction works are expected to be completed in 2016.
