Key for new residential buildings was consigned to 109 IDP families
109 IDP families have new residential house. Today Key for new residential buildings was consigned to IDP families by Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refuges of Georgia Sozar Subari, the United States ambassador in Georgia Richard Norland, Imereti governor Givi Chichinadze, Kutaisi Mayor Shota Murgulia and MDF deputy executive director Tornike Toradze. By USAID financial support Municipal Development Fund of Georgia has implemented rehabilitation works on former hospital building on Otskheri Street in Kutaisi. Total cost of the project is GEL 5.560.000.
Today Minister Sozar Subari, the Unaited States ambassador Richard Norland and MDF deputy executive director Tornike Toradze also visited those objects which are under threat of demolition and from where 45 IDP families have moved to new residential buildings. As a result of this resettlement 8 objects in dangerous conditions which threat risk for residing IDP’s health and lives will be closed.
Among 1850 IDP family who applied for receiving house on Otskheli street 109 IDP family was satisfied according to the rule regarding “accommodation provision to IDP‘s”. From now IDP’s have been living in hard conditions during 22 year will live in new apartments which are rehabilitated in compliance with international standards.
From 109 apartment 44 is one room, 53 two room and 12 three room. It should be mentioned that 6 apartment is considered for disabled persons. Herewith residential building and external infrastructure is entirely adapted for disabled persons.
Each apartment has individual bathroom and toilet, water heaters are installed in the kitchen. Parking and playground area is arranged in the yard. External and decorative lightings, trash bins and other necessary attributes are installed. During construction 170 workmen was hired, from which 25 % were IDP. With USAID financial support MDF implemented construction of 14 buildings in different regions of Georgia during 2013- 2014. In total 576 IDP families were consigned residential house.
