Rehabilitation of Khobi Water Supply System
The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia together with the United Water Supply Company of Georgia is implementing rehabilitation works for improvement of water supply system of Town Khobi. Today, the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Giorgi Amashukeli and Director of the United Water Supply Company of Georgia, Vladimer Lazarishvili were visiting works ongoing at the project site.
The project provides for complete refurbishment of the water supply system and rehabilitation of the head works and wellfield. Depreciated pipes of the town network will also get replaced. After project completion, 6500 inhabitants of Khobi will have an uninterrupted 24-hour water supply instead of the scheduled 16-hour supply.
Currently, major part of the town network is deprecaited, the pump station also requires rehabilitation works. Due to the existing low pressure, water supply to the high-rise buildings is rather problematic. This issue will also be solved as a result of project implementation.
The water supply rehabilitation project under implementation by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia and the United Water Supply Company of Georgia is backed by the European Investment Bank. Project completion is scheduled in October of current year. There are some 22 persons employed at the project site, most of them are locals.
