Power Efficient and Environmental Projects will be Implemented in Georgia with International Financial Institutions’ Co-financing
The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Giorgi Amashukeli, who is also the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia met representatives of the Consulting Group of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Michel Riedlinger and Mark Lutsky.
The Consulting Group of EBRD is selecting potential projects for Power Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P) in Eastern European Countries and namely in Georgia, Moldova and Armenia. The today’s meeting was aimed at familiarization of the Georgian side with the mentioned program.
E5P is a multi-donor Fund established in 2009 and its main tasks inter alia include the following: improvement of power efficiency and mitigation of negative environmental impacts. The above-mentioned goals are achieved through international financial assistance, which consists of the grants extended by donors and funds raised by the beneficiaries themselves.
As it was stated at the meeting, the E5P will support the projects from the under mentioned fields:
Water supply and wastewater systems;
Solid waste management;
Street lighting with energy saving systems;
Heating systems, thermal insulation, etc. for public buildings, and residential houses (including IDP housing);
During the meeting, the First Deputy Minister focused on installation of energy saving lighting system on the expressroad and heating of the IDP housing. The parties agreed on the following: members of the consulting group will individually meet with managers of the entities operating under the Ministry and discuss with them the projects of interest to the E5P.
