A bidding announced for design-build of infrastructure rehabilitation in Abastumani

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a bidding for the design-build of large-scale rehabilitation of infrastructure in Abastumani Borough of Adigeni Municipality.

 

The pre-design studies, planned at the first stage of works to be executed, will define the infrastructure that is in need of rehabilitation, as per the overall urban development concept.

 

The project provides for the restoration of buildings and structures of historical and cultural significance, the improvement of public tourist and recreational facilities, the upgrade of streets and roads, and the construction-rehabilitation of bank protection structures and bridge crossings.

 

The main objective of the project is to preserve the historical environmental and cultural characteristics of Abastumani, while using modern and innovative technologies in the rehabilitation process.

 

The rehabilitation of the infrastructure of Abastumani will assist to strengthening the tourism and economic potential of tourism across the region, preserve its historical heritage, and create a comfortable environment for the local population and tourists.

 

To develop the unique resort of Abastumani, the State and Charity Foundation “Cartu” of Bidzina Ivanishvili, have implemented a number of infrastructural projects. These include the construction and equipping of a new center for the treatment of chronic lung diseases and an outpatient clinic with the latest technology, as well as the full rehabilitation of historic houses, the National Astrophysical Observatory, the cable-railway station, and the central park on the main street of the resort. A Master Plan for Abastumani resort has been developed, and the construction and rehabilitation of the water supply and sewage systems, as well as of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of that resort, has been completed. In order the resort to be further developed, the complete rehabilitation of Baghdati-Abastumani road, the construction of Abastumani bypass road, and the construction of the “Paragraph” Hotel Complex are underway.
