Georgian Municipal Development Fund to be led by Giorgi Amashukeli
The First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Giorgi Amashukeli to be led Georgian Municipal Development Fund. Giorgi Amashukeli has been appointed as Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund in accordance with the decree №285 issued by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili on 12 August, 2014. Giorgi Amashukeli has been working in Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure since 2013. Thus, he is well aware about projects and activity of ministry and related organizations.
In 2013 Giorgi Amashukeli served as Deputy Chairman of Roads Department of Georgia. From 2013 to July 2014 Giorgi Amashukeli was Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure. In July 2014 he became The First Deputy Minister.
Furthermore, during the years Giorgi Amashukeli worked in several public and private institutions. In 20123 he served as First Deputy Head of LEPL Agency of Natural Resources under the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia; in 2012-13 he was Member of the Supervisory Board of Family Medicine National Learning Centre; 2010-2012 he worked as a Lawyer at the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (Georgian Office). 2004-2007 he was an Attorney at the Law Office “Svanidze and Partners”. 2004-2005 he served as Legal Specialist at the Official Publishing Service of the President of Georgia (Sociological-Research Department).
Giorgi Amashukeli is fluent in Georgian, Russian and English languages. In 1999-2004 Amashukeli studied at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in the Department of International Law and Relations. In 2008-2010 he studied at Liverpool John Moores University and after graduation obtained Master’s degree in Business and Commercial Law.
It should be recalled, that position of Director of Municipal Development Fund fell vacant when former Director Giorgi Somkhishvili was appointed as Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia.
