A competition announced for development of a master plan and sketch designs for the Governmental City
The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a competition for development of a master plan and sketch designs for the Governmental City.
The large-scale project will be implemented in Tbilisi, on so called Arsenali Mountain, near Gedevanishvili Street.
The goal of the Governmental City Project is to improve the accessibility of public services, create a modern, unified space, strenghten and optimize the interdepartmental coordination, and ensure the smooth running of events of public and social significance.
The master plan shall include the functional distribution of the territoriy, the safe and rational development of transport and engineering infrastructure, full integration with the existing urban network, as well as landscape planning and site improvement issues.
The project shall define the areas for the highest representative and executive bodies, officies, and open and closed spaces for events, held by central and sectoral governmental authorities. Arrangement of underground and above-ground transport, parking lots, recreation and green areas, and auxiliary infrastructure for technical equipment and engineering and utility networks shall be envisaged as well.
The Governmental City shall house the Parliament building, the Government Administration, the Ministries of Foreigh Affairs, Infrastructure, Regional Development, Labor, Health and Social Protection, Economy and Sustainable Development, Environment and Agriculture, Education, Science, Youth and Culture. It will also house the Tbilisi City Hall, the Special State Protection Service, and the Office of the State Minister of Reconciliation and Civil Equality.
The pre-design studies include a compehensive study of the territory, assessment of the technical condition of existing buildings and structures, topographical and geological surveys, and analysis of engineering utilities.
