Recreation areas to be arranged in Kutaisi

 The Minister of Infrastructure, together with the Prime Minister, the Executive Director of Municipal Development Fund of Georgia (MDF) Beka Urushadze, Members of the Government and Parliament, the Governor of Imereti Region, and representatives of local authorities, visited the projects, being implemented in Kutaisi.

 

One of the important projects of MDF, is the renovation of a park in Kutaisi, which includes the arrangement of pedestrian and bicycle paths, green areas, landscaping of the site, and the installation of small architectural structures. The Park will feature the children’s and sports areas, picnic spaces, an amphitheater, and water mirrors. The infrastructure will be fully adapted for the people with special needs.
 
Moreover, MDF is to execute a number of significant projects in Kutaisi, including the construction of a Sports Palace, and the restoration of historic buildings that are important for strengthening the identity, tourism potential, and cultural and healthy lifestyle of the city.
 
Work is underway on a detailed design for a new multifunctional park, covering an area of approximately 70 hectares next to the Building of Parliament. The site will feature the playgrounds for children, sports fields, a network of walking and bike paths, and cultural and educational spaces.
 
In addition, MDF has commenced the preparatory works for the rehabilitation of historic buildings at Newport and the adjacent streets. There are also the plans to restore the Ilia Chavchavadze Public Library, built in the second half of the 19th century.
 
There is to be built also a technical football center in Kutaisi, create a recreation area on Rioni riverbank, rehabilitate the Lado Meskhishvili Drama Theatre, and develop a university campus, next to the former building of the Parliament.
