Infrastructure works underway in Ateni Gorge

The first stage of tourist infrastructure arrangement works near Ateni Sioni was completed in 2020. Within the framework of the project, the Municipal Development Fund organized a football pitch, public sidewalks and a parking lot.

 

A new stage of Ateni Gorge renovation works was launched in 2024. currently the works for the bypass from the village to the church, the cafe, the pergola, the public toilet, the church shop and the pedestrian path leading to the church have been completed; construction of the pedestrian bridge, arrangement of the church access path, conservation of the terraces, works for the outdoor lighting of the territory and arrangement of the fence and gates are at the completion stage. Construction of the road bridge leading to the monastery complex is also underway.

 

The goal of the project is to completely renew the cultural heritage sites and tourist itineraries of the Ateni Gorge, to improve safety, accessibility and quality of free access for the visitors.

 

The Minister discussed the infrastructure needs existing on site and familiarized himself with the progress of ongoing works, for timely and high-quality performance of the project.
