Bank protection works ongoing on the River Liakhvi

Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, together with the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund Beka Urushadze, State Representative in the Shida Kartli Region Simon Guledani, Mayor of Gori Konstantine Buzaladze, and Metropolitan Andria of Gori and Ateni, visited the ongoing infrastructure works in the Ateni Gorge.
The Minister also visited the Gori Easter Church under construction and discussed protection of the Liakhvi River bank in the vicinity of the church and some additional infrastructural needs of the city, to serve both locals and tourists.
The ongoing bank protection works on the Liakhvi River in Gori is one of the most important infrastructural projects for the city — it protects the territory adjoining the recreational park from possible damage in case of the river flooding. Accordingly, the timely, technically sound, high-quality implementation of the project in compliance with all legislative requirements is a priority for the Ministry.
The project envisages construction of a 458.36-meter monolithic reinforced concrete retaining wall, along with the reinforcement of the existing 260 m. retaining structure with piers, which is to significantly improve safety of the surrounding area.
