A new stage of Laghami district rehabilitation in Mestia is launched

Under the bidding announced by the Municipal Development Fund, the company "Architex" was awarded the contract for rehabilitation of Lagham district.

 

Within the framework of the contract, the company will carry out renovation works in several sectors of the historical neighborhood of Mestia.

The project, which is to be implemented with a loan from the Asian Development Bank and state co-financing, envisages restoration of historical buildings, including towers and Machubis. The rehabilitation project also provides for restoration, reconstruction and conservation of traditional architectural buildings, in order to preserve authenticity of the Lagham district.

 

In the process of rehabilitation, traditional materials - kavari and slate - will be used for the buildings’ roofing, reinforcement and replacement of the roof load-bearing structures will also be carried out as required.

 

Project goal is to improve the historical district of Mestia, preserve cultural heritage, and develop tourism potential.
