According to the Expert Opinion, building of Tbilisi School #89 will be replaced with a safe and modern one

As per that conclusion, a detailed examination of the structural elements of the building revealed significant stability issues.

In particular, according to experts, the existing building does not comply with seismic standards, its foundation is damaged, does not meet modern standards in terms of safety, and cannot be restored.

 

The expert opinion was presented to teachers and parents of Public School #89 by Deputy Executive Director of Municipal Development Fund (MDF) Qvara Chartolani, together with the Head of the Resource Center and representatives of Isani Administrative Unit.

 

Prior to the expert opinion release, MDF temporarily suspended the rehabilitation works of the school building for safety reasons - based on the decision of an international supervision company, and instructed the contractor company to conduct an additional study of the structural stability of that building.

The construction of Public School #89 will be carried out with the financial support from the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB).

MDF will publish additional information on the progress of the project stage-by-stage, as per the  process ongoing.
