October 3, 2025

A new stage of rugby infrastructure development is to begin in Georgia.

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure is to commence construction and design of rugby fields of modern standards in the capital city and various regions of Georgia.

There are to be built 12 fields with artificial turf: near Tbilisi Sea, in Ponichala, on the terriotiry of Tbilisi Public School #180, in Tserovani, Tskaltubo, Gurjaani, Sachkhere, Kazbegi, Lentekhi, Ambrolauri, Surami and Tsageri (Orbeli-Lajana).

Moreover, 2 fields with natural turf are to be arranged in Kutaisi and Tskaltubo (Gumbra).

For development of rugby infrastructure, two-field stadium projects will be developed and executed in Sagarejo, Khashuri, Ozurgeti and Bolnisi, whereas the field with natural turf is scheduled to be designed in Varketili (Tbilisi City), which is to host international matches too.

The construction of rugby fields throughout the country is important for development of sports infrastructure, promotion of a healthy lifestyle amongst the youth, and further strengthening of rugby traditions of our country.
