The MDF will Construct a 300-place Modern Student Dormitory in Tbilisi
An initiative of the Prime Minister to construct a dormitory for the students is at the implementation stage and the works for preparation of the design required for construction are already initiated. After the governmental session, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Davit Shavliashvili has informed the journalists of the above-mentioned. The project will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia. Construction of the dormitory is mainly aimed at improvement of educational and living conditions for the students from the occupied territories and municipalities of Georgia, which on initiative of the Prime-Minister will be addressed through construction of the 300-place dormitory equipped with modern educational conveniences.
Construction of the dormitory will be completed in 2015. Estimated cost of the project is GEL 5-6 million, though the final cost will become known after finalization of the design. Design stage is a 2-month period and its cost is GEL 98727.
Apart from the 3 domestic buildings, the project provides for construction of the public building, which will accommodate an administrative office. Under the project, the following facilities will be arranged as well: a coffee bar, conference hall, first-aid post, library, computer room, laundry and such other infrastructure required for the students’ maximal convenience and comfortable environment. Outside the building the following infrastructure will be arranged: internal roads and paths, open sports ground, outdoor gym apparatus and street lighting. The area will get improved and landscaped.
The dormitory will be constructed in Tbilisi, in particular in the Nutsubidze hill, Lisi Lake adjacent area. Total area of the project site is 15653 sq. meters, total area of the building - 5200 sq. meters.
Through project implementation the Government of Georgia is targeting at enhancement of educational and living conditions for the socially vulnerable students living in the occupied territories and various municipalities of Georgia. Following completion of construction works, the building will be transferred to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
