Revaz Sokhadze meets with Head of Asian Development Bank’s Country Director for Georgia

Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia Revaz Sokhade together with the staff of the Ministry held a meeting with Lesley Bearman Lahm, Head of Georgia Permanent Mission of Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The participants of the meeting discussed the importance of cooperation with ADB for development of the country, summarized the outcomes of joint projects, reviewed the current activities and discussed future plans.
“We thanked Asian Development Bank for those projects that have undergone implementation in our country with the support of ADB over the years. We talked about future plans pertaining to Batumi-Sarpi road and tunnel, Kobuleti bypass road and noted how important it is the construction of Tbilisi bypass road to be commenced as soon as possible. We also expressed our desire to further enlargement of our partnership and support of ADB in the other areas of significant importance for the country,” Revaz Sokhade said.
The parties once again confirmed their readiness to strengthen the cooperation in the implementation of joints projects.
The representatives of the Permanent Mission of ADB wished the Minister and his team success in their activities and implementation of joint ongoing and planned projects.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is one the most important partners of Georgia in supporting the sustainable and inclusive development of the country. Cooperation with ADB has been going on for three decades already, covering almost all spheres of the activities of the Ministry of Infrastructure. A lot of significant projects have been executed and are being implemented with the support of ADB, including improvement of water supply and sewage systems; East-West highway development; urban development of settlements; construction of sports and educational infrastructure, etc.
In attendance of the meeting were: Deputy Infrastructure Ministers -Vakhushti Bagrationi, Mzia Giorgobiani, Giorgi Koberidze, Ilya Begiashvili; Chairman of the Roads Department - Levan Darakhvelidze; Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund (MDF) - Beka Urushadze, Director of the United Water Supply Company of Georgia (UWSCG) - Davit Kvinikadze; Deputy Head of Permanent Mission of ADB – Andres Peterson, Senior Transport Specialist – Zegham Naqvi, Urban Development Specialist - Maria Pia Ankora, and Chief Transportation Specialist - Lee Ming-Tai.
