Construction of a new 3.5 km biathlon track in Bakuriani is completed

 The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) has completed construction of a 3.5 km biathlon arena and cross-country skiing track in Bakuriani.

The new biathlon track will host the 2025 Winter Youth Olympic Games in February.

Construction of the biathlon arena, ski tracks and related infrastructure in Bakurani, financed from the state budget, began in 2024. The total cost of the project amounted to over GEL 18.2 million.

Simultaneously with the construction of a 3.5 km long biathlon and cross-country skiing track, electrical installation works on lighting of the skiing track were carried out. The Italian company also organized an artificial snow-making system, for which water supply network construction works had been executed.

Tbilisi will also host the European Winter Youth Festival, for which MDF of MRDI has completed the construction of an international standard ice arena in Tbilisi.

The ice rink has an ice field measuring 60 by 30 meters, stands with a capacity of up to 700 spectators, training, choreographic, medical, make-up and conference rooms. The rink will serve such sports as ice hockey, figure skating and curling.

The European Winter Youth Festival and the new infrastructure will contribute to the popularity of country, tourism, as well as to development of winter sports.
