MDF was awarded by World Bank for projects implemented in Kakheti region

MDF, Ministry of Regional development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Ministry of Finance of Georgia were granted with Vice President award in World Bank Europe and Central Asia region for joint project successful implementation. From East Europe and Central Asia 80 projects were presented from which only 16 were selected. World Bank nominated “ Kakheti regional development project” as one of the successful projects. This project was implemented by MDF and from World Bank side was managed by programs sustainable development coordinator in South Caucasus Ahmed Eiweida.
World Bank Regional Director in South CaucasusMr. Henry Keralistated: ” Today we are celebrating successful cooperation between World Bank and Government of Georgia, we jointly implemented regional development program, which was extremely successful and the most important thing is outcome both for entire country and for each citizen.
Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia ElgujaKhokrishvili, Minister of Finance of Georgia NodarKhaduri and Executive Director of Municipal Development Fund of Georgia Giorgi Somkhishvili were awarded. MDF stuff who wereactively involved in project implementation process attended award ceremony. Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Vice Premier Giorgi Kvirikashvili was attending award ceremony.
Giorgi Somkhishvili expressed gratitude toward World Bank and MDF stuff for successful cooperation. Aim of “Kakheti Regional Development Program” was to improveKakheti population living conditions, infrastructure construction/rehabilitation, to support small scale business, to develop tourism and agricultural sectors.
Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure and MDF Executive Director expressed their attitude towards “ Kakheti Regional Development Project” importance and hope of future efficient cooperation with World BankMr. Giorgi Somkhishvili stated:” World Bank team is comprised by experienced and professional local and international experts and specialist, its contribution for infrastructural projects successful implementation in Georgiais significant and I would like to express my gratitude towards them and especially to team leader Mr. Ahmed, who manages World Bank projects in Georgia with high professional experience.
Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Mr. ElgujaKhokrishvili spoke regarding importance of project and award.” I am grateful to World Bank for this honorable award, I am glad that “Kakheti Regional Development Project” was nominated as one of the best projects. This was first, totally different, innovative and complex project. I believe that such projects and innovative approaches established by us will rise living conditions of local population and will promote regionsentire usage of economic potential.
