Second Stage Works Ongoing for Rehabilitation of Water Supply System in 5 Villages of Gardabani Municipality
The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing second stage works for rehabilitation of water supply system in 5 villages of Gardabani Municipality. The project, launched in 2019, is to be completed in autumn of 2021.
Cost of the World Bank funded project amounts to GEL 15 million.
For decades, water supply has been a challenge for villages Martkopi, Norio, Akhalsopeli, Vaziani, and Akhali Samgori of Gardabani Municipality. First stage of water supply project, which involved arrangement of pumping station and wellfield was completed by the “United Water Supply Company of Georgia”. Works ongoing under the second stage envisage installation of water intake, main pipelines, and reservoirs.
Design documentation preparation works for network arrangement, envisaged under the third stage of the project will be undertaken by Gardabani Municipality itself. Following completion of above-referred works, villages Martkopi, Norio, Akhalsopeli, Vaziani, and Akhali Samgori are to benefit from 24-hour water supply.
Next stage works likewise are to provide for rehabilitation of water supply system in villages Khashmi and Mughanlo.
