Arranging of Tourist Infrastructure at Sioni Church Monastery Complex in Ateni Village in progress
The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) is executing the works for arranging of tourist infrastructure at Sioni Church Monastery Complex in Ateni Village of Gori Municipality. The project envisages construction of public WCs and a parking lot. Pedestrian paths are planned to be arranged as well.
The number of local and foreign tourists and pilgrims to Sioni Church Monastery Complex has been on the increase, while the infrastructure being at the Monastery fails to meet the increased demand. Upon finalization of the project the tourist infrastructure will be wholly regulated that will create favorable conditions for tourism to be developed throughout the region.
The works for arranging of tourist infrastructure were commenced in September 2019 and are to be finalized in March, 2020. The project undergoes implementation with financial support from the European Investment Bank (EIB) at the cost of GEL 1,2 million.
