Public Infrastructure of Imereti Region keeps on development with the support of the World Bank
The Agreement on additional funding of “The Second Regional Development Project” has been concluded today between the International Bank for Reconstruction Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA), per which the financial resources at the amount of 9 million USD will be allocated to Georgia.
The objective of the project is to rehabilitate the urban, public and tourist infrastructure in Imeregi Region and to execute the tourist infrastructure restoration works in order the number of visitors to be increased. MDF is to implement several significant projects within additional financing; in particular rehabilitation of Vani Museum, access road to Vani Museum and rehabilitation of treatment facilities in Tskaltubo Town.
The Loan Agreement has been signed by Nodar Khaduri - Minister of Finance of Georgia and Mercy Tembon - Regional Director of the WB for the South Caucasus. The Project Agreement has been concluded among EBRD, IDA and MDF, signed by an Executive Director of MDF - Juansher Burchuladze and the Regional Director of the WB for the South Caucasus - Mercy Tembon. Signing ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ilia Darchiashvili. Project implementation will make the referenced sites more attractive for both: foreign visitors and local holidaymakers and possibility of attracting the private investments will be increased as well. Principal beneficiaries of the project are the local residents of Imereti Region and the tourists as they will consume the renovated infrastructure.
