Prime Minister Inspected Wide-Scale Infrastructural works in Tskaltubo
Irakli Gharibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia inspected wide-scale construction works undertaken within infrastructural projects in Tskaltubo municipality. Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure (MRDI) , with the World Bank’s financial support is carrying out complete rehabilitation of Tskhaltubo within the framework of Regional Development project. Project cost is over GEL 38 million, more than 500 people are employed. The work entered the final phase. The major part of the project will be completed by holiday season, and fully - in August.
Due to the scale and specifics of the rehabilitation project, the complex works are carried out and 10 infrastructural projects are implemented simultaneously, two projects have already completed, 7 projects are in final stage: rehabilitation of Tskaltubo “Tsivi Tba” and Central Part, roads, paths, pedestrian bridges, drainage systems and street lighting installation. Prime Minister together with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Nodar Javakhishvili, Executive Director of MDF Ilia Darchiashvili and representatives of local governments inspected the ongoing works.
Rehabilitated Tskaltubo resort area will create favorable conditions for the development of tourist infrastructure, including the improvement of infrastructural services and institutional capacities related to tourist centers, development of small and medium business (family hotels, shops, café etc.), that will greatly contribute to the improvement of socio-economic conditions. Rehabilitation project will also create favorable conditions for operation of spa resort that will be a step forward for the development of the town of Tskaltubo in regaining the status of a leading resort.
Irakli Gharibashvili, Nodar Javakhishvili and Gamgebeli of Tskaltubo Konskantine Mamiseishvili visited newly renovated JSC BalneoService spa bathes and talked with the management. The bathes are located at the central park territory and are used by every holidaymaker. In 2014, all underground communications of the bath were renovated and entire spa system was rehabilitated. Similar works have not been carried out over last 30 years. In additions, a new bath is being built which will be completed by June. In 2014, over 10 thousand people received treatment in Tskaltubo. 10 thousand tourists visited the town. This year, the town is expecting twice as many guests.
Within the town rehabilitation, the environment for active recreation was created including Mini golf courts, tennis courts, grass and ground cover playgrounds with showers, children's playground, gardens and flower-pixels, shelters to be used in the rain and bad weather (2 passages), decorative pools, dancing fountains, an amphitheater and an open café, 4 bicycle parkings, trails raised from the ground throughout the area. One of the key projects involved improvement of Tsivi Tba ("Cold Lake") territory. Small tourist buildings were built here: Cafe and pier, pear for boats, swimming pools with necessary infrastructure, bungalow, 2 pedestrian bridges, water supply and gas supply networks. Lake outlet channels have been rehabilitated: they were cleaned from soil and sediment and 2 Hydro power complexes. In addition, irrigation network was arranged and green cover cleaned and renovated at Tsivi Tba and central park territory. Sewer system in Tskaltubo central part was rehabilitated and a new water supply system was built at the adjacent territory to Tsivi Tba and central park. In parallel, rehabilitation works at Tskaltubo Theater are ongoing, which include entire renovation of the façade, arrangement of central entrance and stairs with monolith ferroconcrete structure, facing with granite, roofing with metal-tile and restoration of Granite layer around the theater building.
Meanwhile railway station is being rehabilitated. It is to be noted that after completion of external and internal repair works, the first floor of the railway station will be transferred to resort management office. 10 bridges have been repaired, tiled, faced and decorative railings and mosaic was arranged. Old fountain was fully rehabilitated, decorative elements were restored an installed.
After full rehabilitation of Tskaltubo, municipality Sakrebulo will be located in former police building in the central part of the town. In parallel, rehabilitation of Gamgeoba building is conducted, including repair of façade and interior walls, roofing with metal-tile sheets, flooring with laminates, installation of heating system, frontons with stucco elements on façade. The city's main clock will be installed on rehabilitated Gamgeoba building whose territory has already been developed: lighting is installed, municipal transport station is in place.
Street lighting is an important element of resort rehabilitation project. To illuminate nearby areas of a Circular Road, Central Park and the "Cold Lake" are used: 716 bars based on reinforced concrete foundation, 1170 different types of lamps, including 276 for trails and 13 decorative underwater lamps; 16 switchgear shields are installed with circuit breakers and photo relays, 31 336 high quality cables were used for street lighting; bicycle lanes are laid and parking lots built.
LLC State Construction Company of MRDI is implementing construction of stadium of international standards which costs GEL 2 million and will be completed by the year’s end. 50 persons are involved in the construction works.
