Works for rehabilitation of “Telavis Khevi” on Ketevan Tsamebuli Street and construction of administrative building are ongoing in Telavi
The Municipal Development Fund of Georgia of the Minsitry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is implementing World Bank funded project for rehabilitation of “Telavis Khevi” existing on Ketevan Tsamebuli Street in Telavi, cost of works amounts to GEL 1 108 914,99. Concurrently, in Telavi works at the cost of over GEL 900 thousand are ongoing for construction of the administrative building, which is funded from the state budget. There are some 40 persons employed at both project sites. Today, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, Mayor of Telavi, Platon Kalmakhelidze and Majority Deputy of Telavi, Gela Samkharauli were visiting works in progress.
Ketevan Tsamebuli gorge existing in Telavi is damaged and as a result of water onflow it is being washed out, which poses a threat to residential buildings, businesses and motor road located in its vicinity. It is notable that the gorge is located in the city center; the project envisages its overhaul rehabilitation which will result in full elimination of the existing threats.
Under the project a 810 m canal will get rehabilitated, its bottom will get replaced, canal parapets will get heightened with concrete, the existing, damaged utilities will get replaced with new ones, the canal will get faced with Georgian brick, two new bridges will be arranged, the canal adjoining sidewalks will get improved with green zones and outdoor lighting. The works commenced in December of 2014 and will be completed in May of 2015.
As for the administrative building, its construction is ongoing beside the Telavi Gamgeoba, apart from construction of the new building, the Gamgeoba building will be subjected to overhaul, the project will be completed in August, 2015.
